TierraCast…Quality in the Making
TierraCast beads, charms and jewelry components are USA made in Northern California.
Known for their excellent craftsmanship and use of the highest grade elements in making their jewelry components, the jewelry making trade has long trusted and relied on them for the highest quality product available.
TierraCast components are made using Brittania pewter alloy – it is a culinary grade lead-free pewter which exceeds the CPSC standard, is FDA certified to be lead and cadmium free.
TierraCast beads and components are *electroplated with 22k gold, fine silver, pure copper or rhodium. This gives each piece the appearance of Sterling Silver, 22k Gold or Copper at an affordable price.
*electroplating results in a thicker plating quality and durability that ordinary plating does not provide. It will not rub, peel or wear off with normal and reasonable wear and tear. **See care tips below
Care Tips:
TierraCast Silver and Antique Silver is electroplated using fine silver (.999) which is actually a higher silver content than Sterling (.925). These finishes can oxidize* in the same way that Sterling does and may tarnish over time. They can be cleaned using a soft polishing cloth made for jewelry or very mild liquid cleaner (dampen a soft cloth rather than immersing - a soft child’s toothbrush can be used for detail cleaning).
Never use harsh chemicals or rough materials on your jewelry.
*The following things will cause or accelerate oxidation so avoid as much as possible and you may never have to use the cleaning techniques!
**Direct exposure to chemicals (perfume, hair spray, cosmetics, moisturizers etc.) – use these prior to donning your jewelry.
**Moisture – sweating, bathing, swimming, washing – remove jewelry first. Saltwater and chlorine are “deadly” to any metal including pure sterling, 22k gold.
The gold and copper will not oxidize but if cleaning is needed the same process as above can be used.
